There are so many games coming out this year and next that have caught my eye. In my previous post, I talked about the titles I was looking forward to, but since then my wishlist has skyrocketed, and I ended up adding more. I honestly can’t help it since there are a lot of great games coming out. I wanted to go over the ones that I have pre-ordered recently.

Corpse Party 2

I’ve never actually played any of the Corpse Party games. My only experience with the series has been through the various manga adaptations, so I have very little idea of what to expect from the gameplay. Even so, the premise has always fascinated me.

The story follows a group of schoolchildren who perform a cursed ritual as a harmless game, only to discover they’ve made a terrible mistake. Supernatural horrors soon follow, and escaping becomes a desperate fight for survival, assuming escape is even possible. I think there has only been one of the manga where it ended on a happy note, but normally the ending is bleak even for those who escaped.

I’m excited to finally experience the series firsthand with Corpse Party 2. Hopefully I’ll be able to help the characters survive their terrible decisions, but knowing how I usually play horror games, I’ll probably end up dying right alongside them.

Brigandine Abyss

I was fortunate enough to play the original Brigandine on the original PlayStation, and I was hooked from the very beginning. The strategic gameplay, memorable cast of characters, and engaging story made it one of my favorite strategy RPGs. I especially enjoyed playing through each kingdom’s campaign, with Norgard being my personal favorite.

Brigandine introduced me to a deeper style of strategy RPG, which eventually led me to games like Dragon Force on the Sega Saturn. While I had already played titles such as Shining Force and Fire Emblem, Brigandine challenged me in new ways by making me balance character growth, defend my borders from invasions, and build effective armies to expand my kingdom. It could be overwhelming at times, but that’s exactly what made it so rewarding.

I’m excited to return to the series and experience each kingdom’s story once again. This time, though, Mysteine has really piqued my interest, and I think it will be the first kingdom I choose.

Persona 4 Revival

I’ve been a fan of the Persona series ever since I played the very first game. Most JRPGs at the time didn’t have you making pacts with demons, summoning Personas to confront your true self, or even battling Hitler in Persona 2. It’s what made it stand out and still stand out even today.

I didn’t even know that this was going to be a remake, so I’ve intentionally avoided spoilers so I can experience everything with fresh eyes. The only thing I know is that the voice actors have changed, but I’m not sure what else has. I am just excited that this game is returning, and I hope that the next remake will be Persona 2.

Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse

This is the first brand-new Castlevania game in quite some time, so pre-ordering it was an easy decision. While characters from the long-running series have appeared in other games over the years, getting an entirely new adventure starring Trevor Belmont alongside his daughter and possibly even Leon Belmont has me genuinely excited.

I’ve been a Castlevania fan for years, especially Castlevania: Bloodlines on the Genesis and the Game Boy Advance titles. I’m far from the best player, but that has never stopped me from enjoying the series. Exploring every path, uncovering hidden secrets, collecting new weapons, and finally defeating those annoying Flea Men have been some of my favorite parts of the experience.

That’s why I pre-ordered the game as soon as I could. The chance to play as a new Belmont on her quest to stop Dracula sounds like a fantastic time. I’ve been avoiding updates and trailers so I can go into the game completely blind. I am hoping that this game will bring new life to the family that hunts the night.
